i’ve been doing some reading in economics. just a couple of quotes
“… forecast errors from a good forecasting model must be unforecastable!” (Elements of Forecasting, Diebold)
“The statistical literature describes false positives as Type I errors and false negatives as Type II errors. Most common of all is the Type III error: not being able to remember which one is which.” (Thinking strategically, Dixit)

i went book shopping today hopping to stuff my got-a-jot-at-Guelph-gotta-move suitcase with some econ slash game theory slash whatever a self-respecting business economist is supposed to be enlightened by… so basically i had a whole list, definitely not less than 15 masterpieces lined up for me to be… enlightened by
however the selection that the yorkdale indigo store carried was rather disappointing (completely sucked). so i bought two books. one of them is called Against the Gods and apparently has something to do with risk theory. and the cover of the second one is this super awesome piece of design and the book is Rant by Chuck Palahniuk. it is his latest work to date but May 20 will be honoured by a brand new one’s release, it’s called Snuff. sooo…i’m guessing cocaine again?)) anywho, i’m really looking forward to it now too
oh, and i also got this chapters irewards card. another good incentive to finally start reading more.
hm.. i think i know one person who would understand my excitement about this pile of weirdo’s craft. if you’re reading this and feeling jealous, let me know, i’ll bring you copies of both.
P/S omfg. now if this isn’t hilarious then what is!
